When choosing toys for infants it is always important to make sure that they are safe toys because infants tend to put everything in their mouth. So be sure that the toys are unbreakable and that they don’t have any sharp edges that might cut or scratch them. Infant toys should be large enough to not be swallowed because this might cause a trip to the hospital or much worse.
When infants play they are much more interested in looking, feeling, putting things in their mouth, and banging things together. Choose toys that are safe enough for them to chew, drop, throw, and hold. You never know what an infant will do when given a toy. Some other toys to consider are blocks, rattles, squeaky toys, crib mobiles, stacking toys, push-pull toys, stuffed animals or dolls, books with rhymes, picture books, and noise making toys.
It is important for infants to start playing with educational toys from a very young age. This is their growing up “practice”. Toys can be separated by category in order to know what toys will benefit a child at what age. For example, there are toys for physical muscle development such as wagons, bikes, boxes, puzzles, blocks, and brooms. There are also toys for developing senses such as touch, sight, taste, smell, and sound. Some toys for this would be water toys, musical instruments, play dough, and sand toys. Some toys for make believe would be dolls, dress up clothes, cars, trucks, games, and books. There are also toys for creative and intellectual mind development. Some toys for this would include clay, crayons, paints, books, and paper.
As you can see, there are many different types of toys for different stages in a child’s life. Always remember to be safe with what you give an infant. A more appropriate toy for infants would probably be the baby mobile. As they grow up then you upgrade as to the kind of toy they will need.
